EMAC Film Showcases
Twice a year we have an all day film festival. Students have all day to create a script, film, edit, tweet every half hour, have to meet mini deadlines before the final deadline at the end of the day. For the last hour and a half the student and teachers get to watch their creations. This is a fun and great learning experience for students. They learn time management, team work, communication as well as what all goes into a making a short film. This is one of the most anticipated events that students get to participate in during the year. Click HERE to see past short film works.

Special Viewing of Steven Spielberg's movie Lincoln
This year EMAC students, teachers and publication students were lucky enough to see a special sneak peak of Steven Spielberg's Oscar nominated movie, Lincoln starring actor phenomenon, Daniel Day Lewis. The movie was being feature in 5 other theaters around the country. The audience being students and teachers. Around 26 students and faculty went to this viewing. Not only did they see the movie a month early before coming out in theaters. They also got to text in question to Spielberg and Lewis themselves in New York, NY. Then the students got to watch the live-streaming q&a with these amazing men. The only question that got answered from the Dallas theater showing was one of EMAC's very own. Junior, Elizabeth S. asked Spielberg "why was this screening to be filled with students and teachers?". His response was because he wanted it to improve their learning experience and hear from our nations future leaders what they thought.

EMAC Olympic Games
Every summer EMAC officers and teacher plan a camp for all the students. Its a great day to learn new people, reconnect after the long summer break and have some fun. With this year being the 2012 Summer Olympics, the theme of this camp was the olympics.
Students started out the morning with the opening ceremonies. Officers and faculty gave their speeches and went over the handbook. Once all the nitty gritty is over it was time to begin the games. They started out with a 6 legged races. Each group was split up into "countries". The different countries played many rounds to the game. Once we found our gold, silver, and bronze winners the countries received their "metals". Their metals got to be Oreo cookies and roll-ups. YUM! YUM! Then came the next events, which consist of scavenger hunts around the school and chair races. In the scavenger hunt the students went on a race to place their "countries" flag on the first, second and third place stands. On the sheets were iconic pictures of the different places in the countries represented. While the points were being calculated, students listened to CHS's very own assistant principle, Debbie Fine, give her olympic career. Then the winners of the scavenger hunt were announced. Then came the most popular game of our olympics. The rolling chair competition. The students had to push each other through an obstacle. The day ended up on a great note with a water ballon fight.

2011 Capstone
Capstone was the first of all news showcases/ film festivals of EMAC history. Students had an entire semester to create websites, brochures, press releases, marketing packets, a public service announcement, stories, a photo collection and more. The students were placed into real world deadlines, critics and more. Each student was grouped into teams of 4. Those team members had to come up with a cause to represent. As the semester was coming to a close students had to begin meeting with "committees". These committees were ways for students to meet and plan the actual presentation night. By the end of it all the entire nights events were all student made. Judges came, awards were passed out and smiles were shared. EMAC students learned a lot and completed their first of many big projects.
